Homework

homework

Although there must be time for relaxation, play and other activities after school, we believe a programme of homework is essential to promote good working habits.  The main emphasis of homework is directed towards the reinforcement and/or consolidation of ‘core’ skills: reading; writing and mathematics.

All children are encouraged to read at home each day.  In addition, there is at least one weekly homework task and spelling for all classes.  The homework increases as the children move up the school and this build-up of homework is designed to prepare children for senior school.

All work set will have been previously taught in class and parents are not expected to teach their children new work.  However, parents can help by providing a suitable space and setting aside time for homework.

For maths, homework is often set using the MyMaths resource. Children enjoy using this site and are able to mark their work 'instantly'. The teacher can see when the homework was completed and how many attempts have been made.
